The Northern Beekeepers Convention is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a stellar lineup of speakers plus 3 new awards for local beekeepers.
The Convention is held in Newcastle and attracts people from as far south as the Lincolnshire and the Midlands as well as Scotland because of its consistently high calibre of speakers. This year, the organisers have gathered a remarkable range of experts who can look to the future as well as reflecting on the past.
Our speakers are: Prof Jurgen Tautz a world leader in bee science, Philip McCabe President of Apimondia, Prof Robert Paxton expert in deformed wing virus, Dan Basterfield famed for “reading bees,” and John Hobrough combines a lifetime’s experience with the latest empirical data.
The 60th anniversary celebrations include 3 new awards for the unsung heroes of beekeeping associations. Members of local associations are invited to send nominations for the awards. The prizes are vouchers worth £100 each from Thorne and Abelo beekeeping suppliers. Information and nomination forms can be found on www.nebees.org. The awards are:
