Global Honey Bee Colony Disorders and Other Threats to Insect Pollinators – Pg2 – July 2011

Human activities affect pollinators by destruction, fragmentation and degradation of natural habitats. Undisturbed habitats are essential for nesting, roosting, foraging and larval food plants. With six billion people on the planet, virtually every square kilometre supports human life. Losses of 20,000 flowering plant species are predicted in the coming decades which will lead to the decline of co-dependent pollinators.
