Each solitary bee has chosen a tube in which to lay its eggs

THE PREPARATIONS which we beekeepers have made to ensure our colonies are in peak condition in July will be rewarded by honey in the hive and eventually in the pot. Bees are so closely linked to the weather and the local environment, both of which are beyond the control of individuals, that we must live in hope.
