What a week! With greenhouse roofs blowing off, fence panels coming away and other major/minor property damage it only serves to make us yearn even more for the start of summer!

Do check your hives are intact and colonies safe. This weather highlights the importance of careful selection of apiary location in spots sheltered from the prevailing winds; sturdy hive benches with colonies strapped and weighted down.  Maybe it has shown something that you will consider changing in the forthcoming season.

Ensure the entrances are clear of any debris (or snow if there has been any) so your bees can come out on a warmer day, for their defecation needs or perhaps for an early re-orientation flight particularly if the colony has been moved.
